Bigfoot ceased running events for the Monster Jam series in 1998 due to a dispute over involving licensing of video footage and pictures, and has not returned since.

Due to the truck's significant technological advantage and dominance on shorter tracks, Bigfoot 8 was banned from the 1990 TNT Motorsports series for months. As a result, John Piant drove Bigfoot 4 in the series, save for the Louisville 1990 race, when Andy Brass, driver of the banned #8 truck, drove #4.
